Residency Activities & Community Projects

In tandem with creating new work, Ariel Dance Theatre is dedicated to taking an active role in the community that the company is presented, and to reach out to communities through programs and projects that inspire creativity in people's lives and provide access to the arts.

The company's Interactive Arts Community Projects include a wide range of programs designed to serve the dance/theater/visual arts community as well as to reach out to the broader urban population that frequently has little or no contact with the performing arts. This is includes a special focus toward at-risk youth and adults in recovery programs. Working closely with the artistic director, Andrea Ariel, unique programs/projects are designed to meet the specific need of the presenter's community or school. These projects can be created in connection with a new work that is being developed. Ariel Dance Theatre offers longer-term, ongoing programs in the Austin community.
